Service Description

What is Ayurveda? Ayu=Life Veda=Deep Study The Study of Life Ayurveda is the holistic ancient healing medicine of India or the sister science of yoga. Think of Ayurveda and Yoga as two sides of the same coin. Yoga is the path to enlightenment and Ayurveda is the path to longevity. Ayurveda incorporates the five elements of nature (fire, water, air, space, earth) and teaches how each individual is made up of these five elements. In knowing this we can learn what our specific, dominant constitution (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) is and how we can use this information to know ourselves and therefore heal ourselves using self-awareness while not having to depend on outside forces. It becomes apparent that societal ills and personal ills are deeply interconnected and Ayurveda teaches us how we can break out of that reality and become empowered personal and familial healers. What does this workshop consist of? In this workshop we will look at the study of Ayurveda and how it can bring balance to our lives by using different tools such as yoga practices, meditation, nutrition, herbs, and daily rhythms of sleep, rest, and digestion. Bonnie will show you how to feel empowered in terms of your health and well-being by following the cycles of nature and/or circadian rhythm. Radical self-care, daily routines, stress-management, and sleep patterns will be addressed through the ayurvedic lens to bring each participant to the understanding of how they can take care of themselves through a few easy tweaks of their daily habits with a focus on the season of Spring/Summer Bonnie will lead a yoga practice and meditation cultivating the energy of Kapha or Spring. Daily practices for Spring as well as recipes will be shared with each participant. You can discover your dosha (Ayurvedic Constitution/body type) before coming to the workshop! The link below is one of the best dosha quizzes and it is free, it should take about 10 minutes or less.
