Service Description

A Yin Yoga practice helps move you from noise to silence, stress to calm, and from complexity to simplicity. It is designed to work deeply into the connective tissues, nourishing joints, ligaments, and fascia of the shoulders, hips, pelvis, and lower spine. It is the perfect compliment to a more active or Yang-based practice or exercise. A Yin practice promotes flexibility. If you do not use the full range of joint flexibility, the connective tissues will slowly shorten to the minimum length needed to accommodate your movement and activities. It becomes dry, hard, and stiff. The aim is to create a gentle controlled contraction on the connective tissues. We do this by gently stressing the tissue with a slow steady load, holding postures for 1-5 minutes. Holding is reaping the benefits of good stress, which invite both physical and emotional health benefits. By holding, the body makes your tissues longer, stronger, and thicker. Focusing on the joints while relaxing the muscles not only helps to promote the healthy flow of energy, it helps in the releasing of stuck emotions. A Yin practice helps wring out your body of its toxins. Such a practice can help improve your sleep by releasing tension in the body. It brings a sense of ease and lightness in your day-to-day life due to the flexibility in your joints. You are invited to experience the full introspective and relaxing benefits of a Yin Yoga practice. Allow yourself to be and to receive, to listen to the cues of your body and its wisdom. Slow down, tend to your body, mind, and spirit and tune into the subtle voice of your intuition. Mats, blocks, and straps will be provided. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own if that is your preference. You are also encouraged to bring a mediation cushion, pillow, blanket or bolster for additional support and/or comfort.
